Mexico records highest homicide rate in 20 years
2017 has been Mexico's most violent year since the country started keeping records 20 years ago. At least 23 thousand people have been murdered, an average of one death every 20 minutes. The increasing rate is being blamed on corruption, a weak judiciary and the extradition of drug lord 'El Chapo' to the US.
